A rusty, black train bridge may not look like a typical birthday gift, but that's what Allegheny County has received for Pittsburgh 250.
In a ceremony Thursday, U.S. Steel donated the bridge, just west of the McKeesport Duquesne Bridge, for the Great Allegheny Passage. The $2.5 million project to connect the trail from Duquesne into McKeesport has been under way. Workers are trying to convert the bridge for walkers and cyclists by Oct. 4 -- Pittsburgh's 250th birthday celebration
